It's a new day in The World, and a special quest is abound. But wait, the players cry! The game isn't open yet! Shush you, the GMs warned. This is only a test drive meme. The game is simple. You've woken up in a lush field of grass, soft to the touch and a little damp with dew. Spring has reached The World, and there's a randomized checklist in your hand. Your goal is to catch five of the Lucky Animals bounding about, and it's perfectly fine to work together. In fact, we encourage it! Collect them all and deposit them in a pen where the GMs await. There's plenty for everyone, but they will be watching closely for cheaters. Any items won in this pre-game minigame will carry over once holyrelic opens, so get your limited edition item set today! Magnificent prizes await you, so go forth! Just beware; some of the Lucky Animals aren't really so lucky and have their own side effects. (All participants who apply will receive a mochi hat of the player's choosing. They can be either small (think mini tophats) or large (like a harvest cleric's hat) and any of the three colors, with any variety of accessories. All participants who finish the quest will earn a spring-themed beginner item set! It will include one weapon and a bonus item set with five restoratives, five randomized buff spells, and five randomized food items.)

Yes, clerics can do that. Or could, before all this happened. [He waves a hand at their surroundings.] Who knows now?

[inhearts]

People can be resurrected... [ Staring. But not at him, behind him-- ] Nue!

[greatcleavage]

[He turns immediately -- yes, he had completely forgotten what they were doing, but his reflexes are still sharp. No sooner does he spot the Nue she'd seen than he charges it, diving for it with his arms outstretched.]

[ Minako follows! Or, well, almost follows because she's co-ordinating her movements with his in order to trap it. ]

[The Nue scrambles away from Roy's dive -- he'd forgotten just how much BAB he'd lost going down to level 1. But it's heading in her direction!]

[ Minako jumps for the Nue and holds it tight in her hands as she lies on the grass. After a moment, she giggles. ] Caught it!

All right!

[He likes this girl. She's competent.]

You take it to the pen, I'll look for the next one!

[inhearts]

Yes, sir! [ She gives a small salute and takes the animal away, all the while petting it. It's not against the rules, after all! ]

[By the time she gets back, Roy has ranged a bit farther afield, and is now half-hidden behind a tree, looking at a Gold Bird in obvious shock.]

That is the goofiest thing I have ever seen.

[inhearts]

[ Golden -- Shadow??




......Oh, it's just a bird. But it's still golden! ] It probably drops rare items!

[greatcleavage]

I'd be embarrassed to pick up something that it dropped. Same strategy?

[inhearts]

[ She wouldn't! ] Yes! I'll chase it towards you this time. Ready?

[greatcleavage]

I'm starting to wish I'd studied the grappling rules a little better, but I'm ready.

[inhearts]

Let's roll out! [ Takes off and starts chasing the Gold Bird, who takes off running immediately. ]

[greatcleavage]

[Roy splits wide, moving in a broad arc to catch up to her as she moves it around. No sooner does he get in range than he hurls himself onto the bird.]

Gotcha!

[inhearts]

Three down!

[ She walks closer, studying the golden creature curiously. ] It's really shiny!

[greatcleavage]

[He holds it up for her appraisal.] I wonder if it's a template, or if the gods were just really reaching for ideas when they came up with this one.

[inhearts]

Maybe there's a story about a golden bird out there.

[greatcleavage]

You know, I wouldn't be surprised.

It's probably going to get harder to find them from here out. I'll go drop this guy off and catch up with you.

[inhearts]

Okay! I'll keep an eye out for the rest.

[greatcleavage]

[Wasting no time, Roy double-moves off to plunk the bird down with their other animals, frowning as he wonders again what the point of this is. He really hopes they aren't all gonna become a delicious meal or something.]

[Oh well, back to the hunt!]

[ Minako is hiding behind a tree, peering at a Tengu curiously and also rather deep in thought. ]

[greatcleavage]

[Roy spots her before he spots it, and comes up behind her cautiously.] What have we got?

[inhearts]

[ Glances towards Roy for a bit then points at the creature she's been eyeing. ]

Tengu, I think.

[ Not exactly what she had expected a mini one to look like and it probably sounds like that in her voice. ]
