BASICALLY aliens called the Septentriones invade Tokyo and attempt to destroy these barrier-projecting towers (at least two of which are conveniently also TV towers) that are preventing a total Void from engulfing parts of Japan. They are named after stars, generally look absolutely bizarre, are annoying as all get out to fight, and have no personality to speak of.
Alcor here is The Exception.
It turns out that he is, in-universe, the reason humanity is where it is now. The reason the barrier even exists is that he taught a certain person whose last name is Hõtsuin summoning spells in order to create it, and created this thing called Nicaea that allows people to summon demons, and thus be able to actually damage Septentriones (They tried just about everything else.)
BUT on the 8th day, the protag's party has to kill him because he's a Septentrione (and, although he still puts up a fight, probably dies gladly in order to give humanity an audience with Polaris and avert their fate of oblivion.)
HOWEVER, the protag can alternatively get Alcor to overthrow Polaris, leading to an ending where Alcor becomes the new semi-multiversal admin and recreates Earth.
(I've actually heard DeSu2 is a whole-plot reference of sorts to Evangelion, as a matter of fact...)
